Children Inside

They tell me,
“There is a child inside all of us. Let them out.”

I let her out and she is amber, wide-eyed.
I don’t remember being this small.

“Why is everything so big?”
I do not know.
“Where is my daddy?”
I do not know.
“Who are you?”

I do not know.

I swallow her up again, to put her back inside. Where she belongs. She asks me so many questions.

And I do not know.
